Basbousa recipe
Introduction:
Basbousa could also be transliterated in Basbusa, Basbosa, basboussa. Basbousa is one traditional Egyptian dessert that is really famous in Egypt.
Basbousa recipe :
Basbousa ingredients:
- 6 cups semolina (leave some of it aside to put in the bottom of the baking dish)
- 3 cups sugar
- 4 tbsp butter
- 3 tbsp baking powder
- 2 cup warm water
Sweet Syrup ingredients:
- 3 cups sugar
- 1 ½ cups water
- Lemon juice
- Vanilla
Sweet Syrup Directions:
1- Dissolve the sugar in water in a medium saucepan.
2- Add lemon juice and vanilla then bring to boil.
3- Reduce the heat and let it slowly boil for 8-10 minutes.
4- Remove from heat and put it aside.
Basbousa Directions:
1- Add the baking powder to the semolina.
2- Add the sugar and butter to the semolina mixture. Stir and mix.
3- Gradually add the warm water to the mixture and mix.
4- Grease the baking dish and add the rest of the semolina to the bottom.
5- Pour the mixture in the baking dish. Place it in the oven for 25 minutes.
6- Pour the hot syrup into the hot Basbousa and let it cool for 20 minutes.
